Chlamydia Screening Programme

You can access chlamydia screening at a number of venues including pharmacies and youth services.  The scheme is aimed at people 15 – 24 years old, is free and also tests for Gonorrhoea using the same sample.  If you don’t know too much about the scheme then have a look at our chlamydia screening page for more useful information.

Kits are available as either postal which means you can take the kit home, and post it back through the regular post at no cost to yourself, or provide a sample at the venue itself, and responsibility to return the kit to the sexual health service is with the worker issuing you the kit.  Where postal kits are available this will be shown in the venue information.

EHC scheme

Emergency Contraception in Pharmacies

Calderdale operates an Emergency Hormonal Contraception scheme at participating pharmacies which is aimed at females aged 13 – 25 years.  In addition to this females over 25 and in receipt of income based benefits can also access this service.  EHC provision is available through a consultation with the pharmacist to ensure the treatment is appropriate and where onward referral is required this can be done.  Emergency contraception should not be used as a replacement for longer term and planned hormonal contraception so if you need to access ongoing forms of contraception please contact the service so we can discuss your needs.
